Amina was the new girl. Quiet, shy, and always with her head in a book. No one at Baraka High School really noticed her. No one… except him.
Jayden.
He was the silent prefect. Smart, serious, always scribbling in a small brown notebook under the old mango tree. They had never spoken. But one Tuesday after class, everything changed.
Amina opened her locker—and a note fell out.
“You walk like a poem, soft and slow.
I don’t know your name,
but I hope one day you’ll know mine.”
— J
She froze. Was this a prank?
The next day, another note:
“Your smile is quiet… but it speaks to me.
I watch from afar, not to scare you—
but because you make my silence feel less lonely.”
— J
Her heart fluttered.
She replied.
“Dear J,
I don’t know who you are.
But your words feel like music I didn’t know I needed.”
— A
For one week, they exchanged notes. No names, no faces. Just feelings.
Until one day, his note said:
“Meet me under the mango tree after prep.
If you come, I’ll know I’m not dreaming.”
She almost didn’t go.
But she did.
Jayden was there. Holding his notebook, looking both nervous and hopeful.
“You?” she whispered.
He smiled. “It was always you.”
She didn’t speak. She just walked up to him, took the notebook gently—and wrote:
“I see you now.
And I’ve never felt more seen.”
They stood there under the stars. No promises. No big words.
Just two hearts finally finding each other.
The End. π«
